Investors recently achieved a return on shares acquired in the Bownmore Cask Collection after a sale of the rare whisky was completed
The initial asking price for the 24-year-old world-class single-malt whisky collection was $94,000, with 2,000 shares issued at $47 apiece. Between 2023 and 2028, the 1998 Bowmore Bourbon Hogshead will have fully matured, at which point it will be shipped to the buyer.
The shares were issued through a Reg. Presented by Vint, the online marketplace for investing in fine wines and beverages. As of Sept.14, the investment platform sold all issued shares of the Bowmore Cask Collection at a total value of $120,166, including all fees and taxes, consequently garnering a profit margin of 35.49% on an annualized basis.
According to a statement released by Vint, “this collection symbolizes the third exit and the second full escape from Vint.” Vint has generated a net annualized return (realized) of 27.11% from all these exits.
Whisky Production at Vint
Many of Vint’s investment-grade wine collections have beaten the U.S. stock market in the past year. However, alcohol sales have also brought in significant revenue for the website. Vint was able to earn a net profit of approximately 30% thanks to the sale of the Bowmore Cask Collection.
Bowmore’s premium whiskies have shown 418% growth since 2013 and presently hold the second-largest market share in the worldwide single-malt market. Bowmore single malt has become a luxury premium product due to a combination of factors, including brand loyalty and the rarity of cask whiskies.
Bowmore is one of the top producers of single-malt whisky since it is the oldest licensed distillery on the island of Islay in Scotland and has been at it for over 20 years. As a general rule, only around 10% of whisky barrels are allowed to continue aging after the initial 15 years following distillation.
As one of the world’s rarest single-malt whiskies, the Bowmore Cask Collection, which has been aged for the past 24 years, was recently sold for more than $120,000, producing over 30% returns before it was even bottled.
