Buffalo Trace Distillery has officially announced the return of its popular charitable program, “100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities,” just in time to celebrate Bottled-in-Bond Day 2025. This much-anticipated initiative honors the pioneering legacy of Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr., a key figure in bourbon history, while giving back to nonprofit organizations that are making a difference in communities across the United States.
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr., who owned and modernized Buffalo Trace from 1869 to 1878, was instrumental in pushing for higher quality standards in American whiskey. His leadership led to the passage of the 1897 Bottled-in-Bond Act, the first consumer protection law in the United States, ensuring transparency and authenticity in whiskey production. The “100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities” initiative is a modern tribute to Taylor’s work, built around the symbolic 100-proof requirement of bonded whiskey.
Strong First Year Success
The program first launched in 2024 and quickly made an impact. Over $134,000 was raised across 36 states, with funds directed to support a wide variety of causes including veteran services, cancer treatment and research, youth education programs, and animal rescue initiatives.
“It is incredible to see the work being done by nonprofit organizations around the country, and we believe Taylor would be proud to know his legacy continues to bring positive change to countless communities,” said Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director at Buffalo Trace Distillery.
“The 100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities initiative celebrates those who, like Taylor, have a passion for improving the world. We are proud to support these efforts.”
2025 Charity Program Details
For the 2025 edition, 100 bourbon sets will once again be available, featuring bottles from some of Buffalo Trace’s most coveted brands. Participating charities will have access to rare and celebrated releases, including E.H. Taylor Jr., Blanton’s, Eagle Rare, Weller, and others. Each set will vary in size and composition based on the availability of stock, offering a unique fundraising opportunity for every organization selected.
Charities of all types are encouraged to apply starting March 3, 2025, coinciding with Bottled-in-Bond Day. Applications must be completed and submitted by June 11, 2025, exactly 100 days later. The selected organizations will be notified the week of July 28, 2025, with bourbon sets delivered within 30 days after the announcement.
Buffalo Trace will coordinate transportation and legal compliance based on each state’s laws, but it is the responsibility of the nonprofits to conduct fundraising activities that meet local legal standards. Each charity must also report their fundraising results to Buffalo Trace by December 31, 2025.
Celebrating a Lasting Legacy
The Bottled-in-Bond Act was a groundbreaking development not only for whiskey but for American consumer rights as a whole. It set forth strict requirements for whiskey production, including proof levels, distillation seasons, and bonded warehouses, laying the foundation for what would later become broader food and beverage safety regulations.
Through initiatives like “100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities,” Buffalo Trace Distillery continues to honor this history while making a meaningful impact today. The program is a celebration of both fine whiskey craftsmanship and the enduring power of giving back—reminding us that, just as bourbon has matured and evolved over the centuries, so too can our efforts to build stronger, healthier communities.
