Silicon Valley’s 10th Street Distillery Wins Best Whisky in the World—Again!

Spread the news

In a world traditionally dominated by Scotland and Ireland, 10th Street Distillery from San Jose, California, is making waves in the global whisky scene. At the 2024 Whiskies of the World competition, 10th Street’s Triple Cask Single Malt, nicknamed “Dragon,” took home the top prize: “Best in Show, Double Gold.” This achievement is remarkable, especially as it stood out against fierce competition, including legendary Scotch whiskies and rising stars from Japan, India, and Australia.

This isn’t the first time 10th Street Distillery has earned international acclaim. “Dragon” is the second whisky from the distillery to win the prestigious “Best in Show” title, showcasing that American single malts have solidified their place on the world stage. CEO Virag Saksena emphasized the significance of this win, calling it a testament to the team’s passion and craftsmanship. Each bottle of 10th Street whisky is meticulously crafted, reflecting a blend of innovation and respect for traditional methods.

What sets the award-winning Triple Cask Single Malt apart is its unique aging process. It starts its journey in shaved, toasted, and recharred (STR) casks before being transferred to California Pinot Noir casks, and finishes in rich Port casks. The result is a whisky with a deep tawny hue and complex flavor profile, offering notes of toffee, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, and a lingering spicy finish.

Adding to their growing list of accolades, 10th Street’s Distillers Cut Peated Single Malt also won Double Gold. Crafted from Scottish Peated Barley and finished in Port casks, it delivers smoky, earthy flavors balanced with luscious cherry notes.

The Whiskies of the World competition is known for its rigorous blind-tasting process, which levels the playing field for distilleries of all sizes. 10th Street Distillery’s back-to-back wins confirm their exceptional quality and commitment to producing world-class whiskies.

As 10th Street continues to expand its reach across California and beyond, whisky lovers worldwide have a new must-try on their list. For more information, visit 10th Street Distillery’s website.
