Sagamore Spirit Releases 7-Year Cask Strength Rye Whiskey
We’re thrilled to share that Sagamore Spirit, Maryland’s award-winning rye whiskey distillery, has just released a new batch of its Cask Strength Rye Whiskey—and it’s a bold one. This 100% Maryland-made expression is aged for 7 years and bottled at a robust 61.5% ABV, capturing both the spirit of local terroir and the excellence of Sagamore’s grain-to-glass ethos.
A Bold, Complex Flavor Journey
The latest release delivers a rich and layered tasting experience. On the nose and palate, expect notes of dark chocolate, black cherries, and freshly cracked black pepper, followed by waves of smooth caramel and honey. A long, complex finish unfolds with leathery oak tannins and a lingering, warm spice that whiskey aficionados will savor.
Maryland Roots, Modern Rye
Sagamore’s commitment to local sourcing is key to this expression. The distillery partners closely with Maryland farmers to source premium grains, which are used to craft both their high-rye and low-rye mash bills. These spirits are triple distilled and then matured for seven years, enhancing depth and smoothness before being skillfully blended in small batches.
Their process doesn’t just respect Maryland’s whiskey-making history—it pushes it forward. Aged in the state’s hot and humid climate, this rye whiskey gains proof and complexity, staying true to modern Maryland-style rye while nodding to traditional craftsmanship.
Nationwide Rollout This May
The new batch of Sagamore Spirit Cask Strength Rye Whiskey will be available nationwide starting in May, priced at an SRP of $69.99. You can find it at select retailers or directly at the Sagamore Spirit Distillery in Baltimore.
