Discover the perfect fusion of style and functionality with Cask Finery, a renowned Scottish company specializing in repurposing rare Scotch Whisky Casks. Their latest offering includes an exclusive collection of bespoke bicycle headset caps and bar ends, meticulously handcrafted to elevate your cycling experience.

Nestled in the picturesque region of East Lothian, Cask Finery, a family-run business, has taken a rare oak barrel that once matured a prized 1963 Vintage Single Malt from the esteemed Glen Albyn distillery, which unfortunately closed its doors in 1983. From this historic cask, only 100 limited edition pieces have been created, ensuring unparalleled exclusivity.

Each headset cap and bar end is carefully adorned with a laser-etched design, a distillery name, or a left plain to showcase the wood’s natural grain. The designs are thoughtfully packaged in sustainable materials, which include an actual slice of the whisky stave—a plank from the original cask. Each package also contains a certificate to authenticate the origin and cask type, ensuring the utmost transparency and provenance.

Founder and avid cyclist Mark van der Vijver, who boasts nearly two decades of experience in the whisky industry, explains the inspiration behind these unique accessories: “Our goal is to celebrate the unique narrative of each rescued cask through local craftsmanship, resulting in a distinctive blend of style, functionality, and Scotch whisky cask heritage for the individual within the cycling community.

We understand we’re handling a true piece of history when we acquire lost barrels like the Glen Albyn 1963 Single Malt. This compels us to create accessories that share the cask’s remarkable story and serve as striking additions to your bike, providing a truly personalized experience.”

Recycling has long been an integral part of Scotch whisky production, with old casks, such as bourbon or sherry barrels, being used to mature the spirit, imbuing it with unique flavors. Cask Finery upholds this tradition by repurposing these barrels and donating ten percent of their profits to The Woodland Trust in Scotland. This commitment to sustainable growth reflects their ethos and pays homage to Scotch Whisky’s deep connection with the land.

Van der Vijver adds, “Rescuing these forgotten casks from garden centers and sheds and repurposing them as bespoke bicycle trim is incredibly fulfilling for us. It allows these barrels to embark on a new journey while proudly adorning your bike.”

The bar ends, and headset caps can be purchased individually or as a set. Prices for the headset caps start at £32.50, while the bar ends begin at £47.50. For the complete set, prices start at £63.50.
