The year 2022 was a breakthrough for the brown stuff, as several excellent whiskys made their debut that year. This time of year is always exciting because it’s when our friends at Whisky Advocate reveal their picks for the greatest whiskys of the year. They spent a year trying hundreds of whiskys to narrow it down to their top 20, and their number one choice is a twist on a well-known brand.
Whisky Advocate has named Jack Daniel’s Bonded their Whisky of the Year for 2022. Tennessee whisky, a bonded combination of Tennessee whisky, rye, and American malt whiskys, and Triple Mash were both introduced in the spring. The Bonded in particular has lost no time in gaining praise and new fans after being released as part of JD’s first premium line extension in a quarter of a century.
Why, therefore, did Whisky Advocate pick this particular bottle? Several factors came together to create this situation. Because the list avoids both rare and costly whiskys, the Washington residents were glad to see that Jack Daniel’s Bonded is a part of a new permanent collection and can be purchased for around $30. They also appreciate that it’s a legit bonded whisky. It was made by a single distiller during a single distillation season, matured for at least four years, and bottled at 100 proof, as required by law. Last but not least, they adore its taste, praising how it retains all the recognizable characteristics of Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 while increasing the intensity.
The best-scoring whisky on Whisky Advocate was Jack Daniel‘s Bonded (97 points out of 100), but that’s hardly the only excellent whisky out there. Just below, you’ll discover the entire set of twenty.
